KUWAIT CITY : The Acting Under Secretary for Traffic and Operations at the Ministry of Interior, Major General Yusuf Al Khadda, said that the new law that will make significant changes to the traffic laws in Kuwait will be submitted to the Cabinet meeting next week. The Act prescribes severe fines and penalties for violations. The draft document has been submitted to the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense and Interior,Sheikh Fahd Al Youssef Al Sabah.
● Important provisions of the new law:
Careless handling of a vehicle : Fine of 150 dinars
Using mobile phone while driving : Fine of 70 dinars
From the beginning of this year to the end of June, 76,452 people were caught for not wearing seat belts. 4228 cases were registered for violation of noise regulation. Major General Yusuf Al Khadda also stated that action was taken against 1095 vehicles for having black stickers on the car windows.
The aim of this new law is to reduce traffic violations and ensure road safety. The move is expected to help reduce accidents and reduce traffic congestion on Kuwait’s roads.
