Sandstorms witnessed across UAE

The emirates in the country have been witnessing sandstorms and occasional rain this week. The National Centre of Meteorology said winds blowing sand and dust could reduce horizontal visibility at times throughout the day.

Weather conditions in Dubai on July 23 is predicted to be hot with moderate winds picking up sand and dust. The forecast for Abu Dhabi promises a similar day of high temperatures and dusty winds.

Temperatures are expected to reach 48°C in internal areas and 38-40 degrees Celsius in the cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Cloudy skies and light to moderate winds blowing dust and sand were seen on July 22 while dusty weather drastically reduced visibility in parts of Dubai and Sharjah on July 21.

According to the UAE’s weather department, heavy dust followed by rain was seen in Sharjah’s Maliha and Al Suyoh areas. The same day, heavy rain fell on the desert regions of Lahbab, Marmoom and Al Qudra in Dubai, as well in the south of the country near Sweihan and Al Ain in Abu Dhabi, Al Dhaid in Sharjah and Shawka in Ras Al Khaimah.
