Made in Oman campaign to begin in Sultanate

A new month-long Made in Oman campaign will be launched in stores, supermarkets and malls across the Sultanate on November 16.

Organised by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry & Investment Promotion in partenrship with Authority of Small & Medium Enterprises Development, the Consumer Protection Authority, Madayn and Oman Chamber of Commerce & Industry, as well as representatives from the business community, the campaign is designed to support local producers and manufacturers by encouraging consumers across the Sultanate to think and buy local first.

Noting the tremendous support received from collaborators and partners in the Made in Oman campaign, His Excellencey Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry & Investment Promotion, said: “We are proud of Omani products and where they have reached in the global market. And it is therefore with immense pride that we launch this campaign as part of the ministry’s activities to mark and celebrate the very special occasion of Oman’s 50th National Day. With the ultimate objective of encouraging consumers to buy local, Made in Oman will showcase and raise the profile of the wide range of items grown and made in the Sultanate both by large manufacturers as well as small and medium enterprises along with the incredible services our great local businesses provide. In doing so, the campaign will inform consumers about the impact buying local has on communities across the country and its importance for us as a nation.”

He said that a key goal of the campaign is to get consumers to see Omani products, produce and services in a new light, extending beyond talking about GDP and how rials spent on local products help long-term growth, it will also be showing real examples of how ‘going local’ is already helping create quality jobs for young people as well as making a difference to everyday life. The success Omani products enjoy in international markets will also be featured.
