CPM should end campaigns against Adoor Prakash: Ramesh Chennithala

Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly Ramesh Chennithala has said that ministers and others are campaigning against Adoor Prakash in connection with the Venjaramoodu murder. The Congress leader has warned that no one should try to isolate Adoor Prakash.

The Congress party will unanimously oppose the CPI(M)’s move to portray him as guilty in the murder case as its venting its ire for flopping in the Attingal constituency. As an MP, Adoor Prakash is the most beloved person in the constituency.

The Minister of Industries and Co-operation is spreading slander against Adoor Prakash by spreading nonsense. That must end. What is the evidence in the hands of EP Jayarajan and Kadakampally Surendran to make allegations against Adoor Prakash? The Leader of the Opposition said that the Congress would strongly oppose any attempt to attack a leader like Adoor Prakash who is recognised all over Kerala.

The murder at Venjarammoodi is not a political one. The position of the Congress is that there should be an impartial inquiry into this incident. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan also tried to blame the Congress for the murder in Kayamkulam. Finally, the Minister of Public Works himself said that it was not a political assassination. These are all clashes between gangs. It has become the need of the Left government, which is now losing face in the eyes of the people, to turn it into political assassination and martyrdom.

Mr Chennithala said that the people should know which party the accused belong to. It is alleged that three CITU men were among the accused. So it is clear that this is not a political assassination. Congress does not support or protect goons. The Leader of the Opposition alleged that the CPM was unleashing violence all over Kerala in the name of this murder. Congress offices and martyrdom monuments are being extensively demolished. Ramesh Chennithala alleged that the police were complicit in all this.

Mr. Chennithala has strongly protested the CPMI(M)’s attack on the house of former Youth Congress State general secretary and KPCC member T Leena. Leena’s house was attacked by a group of CPM cadre on a bike at 2.30 pm last night. Lena and her family have been subjected to CPM violence for the past 15 years since she left the CPM. Wherever there are problems, the house is attacked. After visiting the house, Ramesh Chennithala told the media that this would not be tolerated any longer.
