COVID-19 confirmed for 6,268 people in Kerala on Dec.30

COVID-19 was confirmed on December 30 for 6,268 people in Kerala. The district-wise break-up of the infected were Ernakulam 1,006, Pathanamthitta 714, Kozhikode 638, Kollam 602, Kottayam 542, Alappuzha 463, Thrissur 450, Malappuram 407, Palakkad 338, Thiruvananthapuram 320, Wayanad 267, Kannur 242, Idukki 204 and Kasaragod 75.
COVID-19 has so far been confirmed by 29 people who recently came from the UK. Their samples have been sent to NIV Pune for further testing.

A total of 63,887 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 9.81. A total of 78,53,651 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.

Twenty-eight deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19, it was confirmed. This brings the total death toll to 3,042. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

A total of 102 of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State and 5,652 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 460 is not clear. Ernakulam 919, Pathanamthitta 612, Kozhikode 611, Kollam 593, Kottayam 502, Alappuzha 454, Thrissur 433, Malappuram 394, Palakkad 222, Thiruvananthapuram 207, Wayanad 253, Kannur 195, Idukki 190 and Kasaragod 67 were affected by the disease.

The disease affected 54 health workers. Ernakulam 12, Kannur 10, Pathanamthitta 8, Thiruvananthapuram 7, Kozhikode 5, Kasaragod 4, Palakkad 3, Thrissur, Wayanad 2 each and Idukki 1 were affected by the disease.

The test results of 5,707 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 392, Kollam 389, Pathanamthitta 243, Alappuzha 479, Kottayam 517, Idukki 222, Ernakulam 780, Thrissur 451, Palakkad 333, Malappuram 609, Kozhikode 718, Wayanad 217, Kannur 201 and Kasaragod 156 were found to be negative today. With this, 65,394 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 6,87,104 have so far been freed from COVID.

There were currently 2,47,725 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 2,35,609 are under home / institutional quarantine and 12,116 in hospitals. A total of 1426 people were admitted to hospitals.
There are four new hotspots. The new hotspots are Puthur in Thrissur district (Cantonment zone ward 19), Chittaur (sub ward 1), Kozhencherry (sub ward 1) and Seethathodu (13) in Pathanamthitta district. Seven areas were excluded from the hotspot list. With this, there are currently a total of 460 hotspots
