791 diagnosed with COVID-19 on July 17 in Kerala, 532 through contact

On July 17, 791 people were found infected with COVID-19 in Kerala. Of this, 532 people got infected through contact and the source of infection for 42 people are not known. Of the total infected, 135 arrived from abroad and 98 from other states, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said.

Fifteen health workers have been infected. One hundred of thirty-three people were cured of the infection. There are not 6029 people undergoing treatment in hospitals, and 285 hotspots in the State.

The district-wise number of infected on the day are as follows: 246 in Thiruvananthapuram district, 115 in Ernakulam district, 87 in Pathanamthitta district, 57 in Alappuzha district 47 in Kollam district, 39 in Kottayam district, 32 each in Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kasargod districts, 31 in Palakkad district, 28 in Wayanad district, 25 in Malappuram district, 11 in Idukki district and nine in Kannur district.

Community spread has been declared in Poonthura and Pulluvila in Thiruvananthapuram district, the first in the country.
