6,357 COVID-19 cases in Kerala on Nov. 14; 26 dead

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 6,357 people in Kerala on November 14 and 26 deaths have been confirmed as due to the viral infection. The district-wise break-up of the affected were Ernakulam 860, Thrissur 759, Kozhikode 710, Malappuram 673, Alappuzha 542, Kollam 530, Thiruvananthapuram 468, Palakkad 467, Kottayam 425, Kannur 363, Wayanad 171, Pathanamthitta 143, Kasaragod 139 and Idukki 107.

A total of 61,553 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate was 10.33. A total of 54,26,841 samples have so far been sent for testing, including routine samples, Airport Surveillance, Pooled Sentinel, CBNAT, Trunat, CLIA and Antigen Assay.

The people whose death have been confirmed as due to COVID-19 were Raveendran Nair (68) from Thiruvallam, Thiruvananthapuram, Surendran (55) from Alangode, Gangadharan (62) from Muthuvila, Sudarshanan (53) from Rasalpuram, Ayyappan Pillai (74) from Umayanallur, Kollam, Subayyan (60) from Kavanad, Rajappan (67) from Karakokaveli, Alappuzha, Shamsuddin (70) from Palathundi, Syed Sulaiman (54) from Vellore, Kottayam, Varkey George (94) from Kottayam, Sugathan (68) from Thikkoy, Puppy (82) from Kottayam, Thankamma Joseph (70) from Changanassery, Thankamma (62) from Mooledam, Mathew (52) from Cheruthoni, Idukki, Devayani (61) from Venkidang, Thrissur, Kunji (90) from Kaloor, Jubairia (62) from Chavakkad, Lilly (78) from Paravathani, Velayudhan (78) from Chetupuzha, Nabeesa (54) from Kavanur, Malappuram, Radhamma (80) from Thenjipalam, Abdul Aziz (52) from Kunnummalpotti, Hamsakoya (69) from Vallikunnu North, Siddique (68) from Peeyumkadavu and Beevi (67) from Valancherry. This brought the total death toll to 1,848. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

One hundred and seven of those diagnosed with the disease were from outside the State. Sixty-three health workers were affected by the disease. The test results of 6, 793 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. There were currently 3,19,481 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 3,01,535 are under home / institutional quarantine and 17,946 in hospitals. A total of 2,180 people were admitted to hospitals.

While two new areas were declared as hotspots, five areas have been excluded from the hotspot list. With this, there were a total of 609 hotspots in Kerala.
