5,266 people confirmed with COVID-19 in Kerala on Jan 31

The scourge of COVID-19 continues to haunt Kerala with has been 5,266 people testing positive for the infection on January 31. The district-wise number of infected are Ernakulam 743, Kozhikode 650, Kottayam 511, Pathanamthitta 496, Kollam 484, Malappuram 482, Thrissur 378, Alappuzha 371, Thiruvananthapuram 300, Kannur 230, Palakkad 211, Idukki 187, Wayanad 153 and Kasaragod 70 districts were affected.
COVID-19 was confirmed within the last 24 hours for a man from the UK. COVID-19 has so far been confirmed for 77 people who recently arrived from the UK. Of these, 56 tested negative. A total of 10 people were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.
During the last 24 hours, 48,118 samples were tested. The test positivity rate is 10.94. A total of 96,25,913 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.
It has been confirmed that 21 deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 3743. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.
Seventy-one of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State and 4,746 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 407 is not clear. Ernakulam 688, Kozhikode 634, Kottayam 457, Pathanamthitta 454, Kollam 480, Malappuram 474, Thrissur 372, Alappuzha 365, Thiruvananthapuram 201, Kannur 159, Palakkad 80, Idukki 174, Wayanad 149 and Kasaragod 59 were affected by the disease.
The disease affected 42 health workers. Health workers from Kannur 9, Kozhikode 7, Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam 5, Palakkad 4, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Thrissur, Wayanad and Kasaragod 2 each were affected.
The test results of 5,730 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 382, Kollam 306, Pathanamthitta 402, Alappuzha 471, Kottayam 424, Idukki 354, Ernakulam 725, Thrissur 484, Palakkad 429, Malappuram 387, Kozhikode 790, Wayanad 287, Kannur 197 and Kasaragod 92 were negative today. With this, 70,983 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 8,54,206 people have so far been freed from COVID-19.
There are currently 2,18,874 people under surveillance in various districts of the State. Of these, 2,07,392 are under home / institutional quarantine and 11,482 in hospitals. A total of 1330 people were admitted to hospitals.
There is a new hot spot, Pampadumpara (Containment sub-wards 10, 11) in Idukki district. Twenty-two areas were excluded from the hotspot. There are currently a total of 375 hotspots.
