4,969 confirmed with COVID-19 on Dec. 17 in Kerala

Four thousand nine hundred and sixty-nine people have been confirmed with COVID-19 on December 17 in Kerala. The district-wise break-up of the number of infected is Kozhikode 585, Malappuram 515, Kottayam 505, Ernakulam 481, Thrissur 457, Pathanamthitta 432, Kollam 346, Alappuzha 330, Palakkad 306, Thiruvananthapuram 271, Kannur 266, Idukki 243, Wayanad 140 and Kasaragod 92.

A total of 60,851 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 8.17. Routine sample, Sentinel sample, CBNAT, TRUNAT, POCT. PCR, RT A total of 71,79,051 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.

Twenty-seven deaths in the past few days were due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 2,734. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

Today, 99 of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State. A total of 4,282 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 541 is not clear. Kozhikode 540, Malappuram 467, Kottayam 474, Ernakulam 357, Thrissur 446, Pathanamthitta 356, Kollam 339, Alappuzha 304, Palakkad 137, Thiruvananthapuram 192, Kannur 222, Idukki 230, Wayanad 135 and Kasaragod 83 were affected by the disease.

Forty-seven health workers were affected by the disease. Health workers from Kannur 10, Ernakulam 9, Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Kozhikode 5, Malappuram 4, Kollam, Thrissur, Palakkad 2 each, Idukki, Kottayam and Kasaragod 1 each were affected.

The test results of 4970 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 265, Kollam 418, Pathanamthitta 184, Alappuzha 484, Kottayam 576, Idukki 98, Ernakulam 565, Thrissur 440, Palakkad 277, Malappuram 520, Kozhikode 780, Wayanad 209, Kannur 101 and Kasaragod 53 were found to be negative. With this, 58,155 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 6,27,364 people have so far been freed from COVID.

There are currently 2,96,747 people under surveillance in various districts of the State. Of these, 2,83,389 are under home / institutional quarantine and 13,358 in hospitals. A total of 1563 people were admitted to hospitals.
There are seven new hotspots. Naranmoozhi (Cantonment Zone Ward 3, 8), Vadaserikkara (Sub Ward 1), Erathu (Sub Ward 13, 15), Kaviyoor (Sub Ward 8), Kalanjoor (Sub Ward 15), Pandalam Thekkekara (Sub Ward 2), Pathanamthitta District The new hotspots are Vandiperiyar (22) in Idukki district. Four areas were excluded from the hotspot. With this, there are a total of 453 hotspots.
