3,110 infected with COVID-19 in Kerala on Jan 11

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 3,110 people in Kerala on January 11. The district-wise break-up of the infected are Ernakulam 443, Kozhikode 414, Malappuram 388, Kottayam 321, Kollam 236, Thiruvananthapuram 222, Alappuzha 186, Palakkad 176, Thrissur 168, Kannur 160, Idukki 141, Pathanamthitta 131, Wayanad 76 and Kasaragod 48.

COVID-19 was confirmed within the last 24 hours by a man from the UK. COVID-19 has so far been confirmed by 54 people who recently came from the UK. Their samples have been sent to NIV Pune for further testing. A total of 6 people were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.

A total of 35,281 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 8.81. A total of 84,87,178 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.
It has been confirmed today that 20 deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 3,322. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

Forty-five of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State and 2,730 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 295 is not clear. Ernakulam 402, Kozhikode 397, Malappuram 377, Kottayam 293, Kollam 230, Thiruvananthapuram 150, Alappuzha 178, Palakkad 60, Thrissur 162, Kannur 137, Idukki 133, Pathanamthitta 105, Wayanad 69 and Kasaragod 37 were affected by the disease.

Forty health workers were affected. Thiruvananthapuram 8, Ernakulam 7, Palakkad 6, Kozhikode 5, Kannur 4, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Wayanad, Kasaragod 2 each, Kottayam and Malappuram 1 each were affected by the disease.

The test results of 3,922 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 212, Kollam 299, Pathanamthitta 281, Alappuzha 441, Kottayam 193, Idukki 46, Ernakulam 485, Thrissur 563, Palakkad 201, Malappuram 457, Kozhikode 404, Wayanad 34, Kannur 277 and Kasaragod 79 were found to be negative today. With this, 63,346 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 7,47,389 have so far been freed from COVID-19.

There are currently 1,99,398 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 1,88,616 are under home / institutional quarantine and 10,782 in hospitals. A total of 948 people were admitted to hospitals.

There is a new hot spot, Upputhara (Cantonment Zone Sub Wards 12, 13) in Idukki district. Two areas were excluded from the hotspot list. With this, there are currently a total of 440 hotspots.
