1,608 confirmed with COVID-19 on Aug. 15 in Kerala; 803 cured

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 1,608 people in Kerala on August 15.

Seven deaths were confirmed on the day due to COVID. Judy (69), a native of Anchuthengu, Thiruvananthapuram who died on August 3; Philomina (70) of Kollam Kundra who died on August 13, Sathi Vasudevan (64) of Aluva, Ernakulam district who died on August 3; Aziz Dsouza (81) of Kasargod who died on August 8; M.D. Devassy (75) of Vattaparambu, Ernakulam who died on August 11; Lakshmikutty (69), a native of Poonthura, Thiruvananthapuram, who died on August 13, and Ravi (58), a resident of Ayira Chenkavila, who died on August 7, were confirmed with COVID-19 after testing in Alappuzha.

The district-wise break-up of those confirmed with COVID-19 are as follows: 362 people from Malappuram district, 321 people from Thiruvananthapuram district, 151 people from Kozhikode district, 118 people from Alappuzha district, 106 people from Ernakulam district, 91 people from Kollam district, 85 people people from Thrissur district, 81 persons from Kasaragod district, 74 from Palakkad district. 52 people from Kannur district, 49 people from Pathanamthitta district, 48 people from Wayanad district, 39 people from Kottayam district and 31 people from Idukki district were diagnosed with the disease.

Of the total, 74 confirmed cases are from foreign countries and 90 are from other states. A total of 1,409 people were infected through contact. The contact source of 112 of them is not clear.

Thirty-one health workers were infected on the day. Four INHS Employees in Ernakulan were also affected by the disease.

The test results of 803 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. 170 persons from Thiruvananthapuram district, 124 persons from Ernakulam district, 92 persons from Palakkad district, 80 persons from Alappuzha district, 63 persons from Thrissur district, 56 persons from Kozhikode district, 45 persons from Kottayam district, 42 persons from Kollam district and 42 persons from Idukki district. Out of 39, 37 from Pathanamthitta district, 32 from Kannur district, 20 from Wayanad district and 3 from Kasaragod district tested negative. With this, 14,891 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 27,779 have so far been freed from COVID-19.

There are currently 1,60,169 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of those under observation, 1,46,811 are under home / institutional quarantine and 13,358 are under observation in hospitals. 1859 people were admitted to the hospital today.
At the same time, inspections have been increased. 32,108 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. A total of 11,54,365 samples have so far been sent for testing.
Today there are 20 new hotspots and 12 areas have been excluded from the hotspot.
