1,310 people test positive for COVID-19 in Kerala on July 31

A total of 1,310 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Kerala on July 31. This includes the test results of 425 on July 30 and 885 people on July 31.

Those who tested positive on the day includes 320 in Thiruvananthapuram district, 132 in Ernakulam district, 130 in Pathanamthitta district, 124 in Wayanad district, 89 in Kottayam district, 84 in Kozhikode district, 83 in Palakkad district, 75 in Malappuram district, 60 in Thrissur district and 59 in Idukki district. A total of 53 people from Kollam district, 52 from Kasaragod district, 35 from Alappuzha district and 14 from Kannur district.

Baihaikki, 59 and Eliamma, 85, of Ernakulam district and Rukmini, 56, of Kollam died of COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 73.
On July 31, 48 confirmed cases were of those who arrived from foreign countries and 54 are from other States. While, 1,162 people were infected through contact, the source of infection for 36 people is not clear.

The district-wise break-up of the infected thought contact are as follows: 311 in Thiruvananthapuram district, 127 in Pathanamthitta district, 124 in Wayanad district, 109 in Ernakulam district, 85 in Kottayam district, 75 in Kozhikode district, 65 in Palakkad district, 63 in Malappuram district, 48 each in Thrissur and Kasaragod districts and 44 in Kollam district. 30 in Idukki district, 29 in Alappuzha district and 4 in Kannur district were those who tested positive for the virus.

Twenty health workers were also affected. Four KSEs employees in Thrissur district, a KLF. Employees and 20 employees of INHS in Ernakulam district were affected by the disease.

The test results of 864 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative.
With this, 10,495 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. So far 13,027 people have been released from Kovid.

There are currently 1,43,323 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of those under observation, 1,33,151 are under home / institutional quarantine and 10,172 are under observation in hospitals. A total of 1292 people were admitted to the hospital today.

A total of 22,279 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 7,76,268 samples have been sent for testing, including routine samples, Airport Surveillance, Pooled Sentinel, CBNAT, Trunat, CLIA and Antigen Assay. Of these, 6,445 samples are yet to be tested. As part of Sentinel Surveillance, 1,23,227 samples were collected from priority groups such as health workers, guest workers and people with greater social contact, with a result of 2,645.
