Stock market set a record again

The stock market saw the Sensex rising above 52,000 points for the first time. The Sensex gained 610 points.

The Nifty rose above 15,100 points for the first time on Monday. The Nifty set another record on the first day of the week after a week of volatility. The Nifty closed higher at 15,300 and ended higher at the same level. The Nifty closed at 15,314 and the Sensex at 52,154.

Bank stocks surged on the day. The Nifty Bank Index rose 3.32 per cent to a new record high. Bank Nifty rose above 37,000 points. Shares of public sector banks and private banks gained.

The Nifty Midcap Index was up 1.3 per cent, while the Smallcap Index was down 0.4 per cent.
