The stock market was volatile on July 22. When trading ended Sensex lost 58 points. The Sensex which had surged till 38,199 points, closed at 37,871 points.
Nifty crashed 20 points to end trading at 11,132. Nifty had surged till 11,238 points during trading. It could not sustain the surge that was seen in the morning session.
Axis Bank, Powergrid, Titan, Zee Limited and ITC were the five stocks that registered gains on the day. Axis Bank shares registered gain of 6.62%, Powergrid 4.96%, Titan 3.60%, Zee Limited 3.09% and ITC 2.4%.
Reliance Industries rose to an all-time high price to create a new record. Reliance registered 1.65% gain. It set a record of Rs.2,010. In the last one month the share price of Reliance increased 15%.
Thirty-three of the 50 shares in Nifty registered loss on the day. Hero Motors, BPCL, Hindustan Unilever, Tata Motors and Tata Steel were the Nifty shares that registered maximum loss. Hero Motors faced 3.32% loss
