Popular American actor Chadwick Boseman, known for his portrayal of Black Panther in Marvel movies has died at the age of 43. A representative of the actor told Associated Press that Boseman has been battling cancer for the past four years.
Until now, Boseman has not publicly discussed his condition. According to close sources to the actor, he has been diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016. Even while undergoing treatment, Boseman continued acting in top Hollywood projects.
“A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, and several more- all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther,” said Boseman’s family in a recent statement.
Chadwick Boseman began his career in 2003 in the television series Third Watch. His first movie The Express: The Ernie Davis Story was released in 2008. Boseman became a popular figure among global audiences, after the release of Captain America: Civil War in 2016.
In 2018, Black Panther was released globally, and it received positive reviews from all corners. The film emerged as a huge hit at the box-office, and it collected $1.347 billion worldwide.
Boseman’s last release was Spike Lee’s ‘Da 5 Bloods’. He was also planning to appear as Black Panther again in 2022.
