6,244 confirmed with COVID in Kerala on Oct. 14

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 6,244 people in Kerala on October 14. Outbreaks were reported in Malappuram 1,013, Ernakulam 793, Kozhikode 661, Thrissur 581, Thiruvananthapuram 581, Kollam 551, Alappuzha 456, Palakkad 364, Kottayam 350, Kannur 303, Kasaragod 224, Pathanamthitta 169, Idukki 114 and Wayanad 84.

Today, 20 deaths have been confirmed as being caused by COVID-19. Rajan Chettiar (76) from Kovalam, Thiruvananthapuram, Gino (62) from Anchuthengu, Krishnankutty (80) from Fort, Omana (68) from Aryanad, Amala Ouseppe (67) from Vallukal, Jayamathi Vijayakumari (61) from Parasala, Shantamma (80), from Kavanad, Kollam, Radhamani (69) from Cherthala, Alappuzha, Younus Kunju (69) from Pallana MS John (84) from Patel Market, Ernakulam, Kesava Pothuval (90) from Tripunithura, Chandran (50) from Palangad, Malappuram, Alikutty (87) from Muthuvallur, Misia Fathima (5 months) from Areekad, Abdurahman (56) from Chullipara. Aboobacker (69) from Kuruva, Kunjan (80) from Thazhekode, Muhammad (85) from Wawad, Kozhikode, Seidalikutty (72) from Kozhikode and Kumaran (70) from Kannur. This brings the total death toll to 1,066. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

Eighteen of those diagnosed with the disease are from foreign countries and 81 from other States. A total of 5,745 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 364 was not clear. Thirty-six health workers were infected through contact.

The test results of 7,792 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. With this, 93,837 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. A total of 2,15,149 have so far been freed from COVID-19.

There are currently 2,78,989 people under surveillance in various districts of the State. Of these, 2,52,645 are under home / institutional quarantine and 26,344 are in hospitals. A total of 2,519 people were admitted to hospitals on October 14.

A total of 50,056 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. A total of 37,26,738 samples have so far been sent for testing, including routine samples, Airport Surveillance, Pooled Sentinel, CBNAT, Trunat, CLIA and Antigen Assay.

There were seven new hotspots and 14 areas have been excluded from the hotspot. With this, there are a total of 653 hotspots.
