Over 12,000 Labour Law Violators Arrested in 2025 as Oman Strengthens Workforce Enforcement and Public Safety

Muscat : The Security and Safety Services Corporation (SSSC), operating under the assignment of the Ministry of Labour, continues to play a pivotal role in enforcing labour laws and enhancing public safety across Oman. The Corporation provides a wide array of services aimed at safeguarding individuals and property, while fostering a secure environment for both public and private sector institutions through its team of highly trained Omani professionals.

Retired Brigadier General Said bin Sulaiman al Asmi, CEO of SSSC, described the organisation as a successful national model of public-private partnership, offering specialised security and safety solutions tailored to the needs of various establishments. In a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), he revealed that in 2024, the Corporation’s inspection unit arrested 23,566 labour law violators and deported 18,053 individuals. Between January and May of 2025 alone, 12,319 violators were apprehended, and 7,615 were deported.

Al Asmi highlighted the Corporation’s achievement of full Omanisation, with over 12,210 Omani citizens currently employed across all governorates. Since the beginning of 2025, 665 Omanis have been newly recruited, and plans are in place to onboard an additional 2,000 citizens by May 2026. The Corporation also runs annual training programmes for around 1,800 Omanis, particularly in the fields of guarding and safety operations.

Beyond labour market regulation, the Corporation actively supports coastal surveillance efforts in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources. Utilising drones and advanced vehicles, SSSC helps combat illegal fishing activities, with over 400 citizens trained in this specialised domain.

Looking ahead, Al Asmi outlined ambitious plans for the Corporation’s continued innovation and growth. These include expanding industrial firefighting services, introducing occupational health programmes, and adopting cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence in firefighting. Furthermore, SSSC aims to establish regional branches across the Sultanate by 2030, further strengthening its national presence.

Al Asmi reaffirmed the Corporation’s commitment to excellence and sustainability, underscoring its role as a key contributor to national security and socio-economic development.
