Indian Embassy in Oman gives advisory on amnesty

With the amnesty announced by the Oman government waiving fines accumulated on residents’ visas and permits to those who leave Oman for good by the year end, the Indian Embassy in Oman has shared further advisory on the amnesty programme.

The advisory mentions that the amnesty is for those who have not renewed their resident visas, or those have been staying without a valid visa or who have been absconding. These categories of people are requested by the embassy to register with the Oman Ministry of Labour either through the Embassy of India, or with the help of social workers or Sanad offices (licensed offices that deal with ministry-related permits, approvals and application submissions). The Embassy has made arrangements within its premises for people who need help with the Labour Ministry registration.

The advisory says that those who have obtained the clearance from the Labour Ministry can purchase their tickets, and do the mandatory PCR test before proceeding to the airport with a valid travel document.

If passport has they must approach BLS International Muscat or its designated centres and apply for emergency certificate. Those staying far away from the capital are requested to send in their applications duly verified by honorary consular agent in that area, to the BLS main office in Muscat or through its collection centres.
