Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg has warned that the United States could witness dangerous civil unrest if the election result takes too long to come out. The Facebook chief expressed this concern while describing safeguards against misinformation, people should follow while using the world’s largest social networking site. Zuckerberg also added that the next week could turn out to be a real testing time for employees at Facebook.
“I’m worried that with our nation so divided and election results potentially taking days or weeks to be finalized there is a risk of civil unrest. Given this, companies like ours need to go well beyond what we’ve done before,” said Zuckerberg.
According to reports, Facebook has already tightened its rules on political advertisements ahead of the presidential election on November 03. The social networking company is also monitoring all kinds of attempts on the site that could undermine the electoral process.
A few days back, popular televangelist Pat Robertson had claimed that Donald Trump will win the upcoming presidential contest against Joe Biden. He also claimed that the United States will witness a dreaded civil war following Trump’s victory.
According to the latest updates, Democratic candidate Joe Biden has a narrow lead in the polls. Several polls have suggested that young citizens in the country are voting in favor of Biden.
