Deputy Editor of The Hindu N J Nair (58), has passed away. He died due to cardiac arrest at a hospital in Thiruvananthapuram on August 17.
He was rushed to the SUT hospital in the course of the night with chest pain and two blocks have been removed. One more block had to be removed, however doctors couldn’t save him.
It was in 1995 that NJ joined the Thiruvananthapuram office of The Hindu. Before that he worked with The Indian Express.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan paid condolences to NJ calling him a journalist who gave importance to ethical values. He also said that his death is a huge loss to journalism. Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala also expressed his grief over NJ’s death, calling him a journalist who always kept news accurate and factual.
Minister of Tourism and Dewasom Kadakampally Surendran also expressed his condolences and posted on his Facebook calling him a fair journalist with strong ideologies.
NJ leaves behind his wife and two sons.
