Visitors or tourists in the UAE whose visit visas expired after March 1 have time until August 11 to leave the country, and after they will be given a further 30-day grace period to either change their status or exit the country, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) said on Twitter. The extension of the grace period will be done by the ICA.
Previously, the ICA had stated that those with expired visit visas have one month to leave after July 12. Announcing the revised statement, ICA tweeted: “As per the last amendments, it has been decided to grant entry permits and visit visa holders inside the country, a period of one month (30 days) to leave the country. The grace period is renewable one time by the authority. After which, the entry permit or visit visa holder needs to exit the country.” The process for applying for the visa grace time has not been announced yet.
The decision does not apply to visit visas issued in the emirate of Dubai.
Overstay fines will be issued if a tourist stays after the grace period. The fines are AED200 for the first day of overstay, and AED100 for each consecutive day and a service fee of AED 100.
