Abu Dhabi: UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan performed the Eid Al Adha prayer on Wednesday morning at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi.
He was joined by several senior UAE leaders, including:
- Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court
- Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi
- Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior
- Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs
- Along with other members of the Al Nahyan family, ministers, officials, and a large gathering of worshippers
Eid Sermon: ‘Our Eid is Devotion’
The Eid sermon, titled “Our Eid is Devotion”, was delivered by Dr. Khalifa Al Dhaheri, Chancellor of Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities. In his address, Dr. Al Dhaheri emphasized the spiritual and national significance of devotion, describing it as a guiding principle in faith, citizenship, and community.
He highlighted that:
- True devotion stems from sincerity of intention and integrity in action
- Devotion to God is the highest form, strengthening one’s spiritual bond and leading to divine acceptance
- Patriotism is a noble expression of devotion, reflected in service to the nation, respect for laws, and preservation of heritage
- Devotion to family and community fosters compassion, responsibility, and social unity
He called on worshippers to make Eid a time of renewed commitment to their faith, nation, families, and professional responsibilities.
Post-Prayer Reflections
Following the prayer, President Sheikh Mohamed exchanged Eid greetings with fellow worshippers and joined the attending sheikhs in reciting Al-Fatihah for the soul of the UAE’s founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, praying for his eternal peace and place in Paradise.
