MUSCAT : This decision is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to regulate the market, ensuring that all active commercial registrations reflect effective businesses that comply with applicable laws.
The cancelled registrations were identified in the second phase of a review process targeting companies whose commercial operations had ended or expired between the years 2000 and 2020. This phase excluded joint-stock companies and sole traders.
Mohammed bin Salem Al Hashemi, Director of the Commercial Establishments Control Department at the Ministry, explained that this initiative is essential for maintaining accurate data and statistics about active businesses in Oman. He noted that companies inactive since 2021, whose partners wished to cancel their registration, have been processed through a form in collaboration with the Royal Oman Police and the Tax Authority. This ensures that these companies have no pending obligations and have been approved by relevant authorities.
The Ministry had previously cancelled 3,415 commercial registrations as part of an initial review, focusing on companies that ceased operations between 1970 and 1999.
