India’s foreign minister Jaishankar visits UAE, Bahrain

Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, India’s Minister of External Affairs, arrived in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi for bilateral talks. His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received him at Al Shati Palace in Abu Dhabi.

 

Sheikh Mohamed discussed strategic relations between the two countries and ways of furthering bilateral cooperation and partnerships, particularly in political, investment and economic fields. Bilateral cooperation in pandemic containment and prevention were also discussed during the meeting. Regional and international issues of mutual interest were also discussed.

 

Sheikh Mohamed noted that the relations between the two countries have witnessed remarkable growth, thanks to the keenness of the leaderships of the two nations.

 

The meeting was attended by Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority; Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under-Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court; and members of the delegation accompanying the Indian Minister.

 

Jaishankar will meet H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on November 26.

 

Bahrain-Indian ties get stronger

Dr. Jaishankar had arrived in the UAE after a two-day visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, where he was met by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The Kingdom’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, and Minister of Finance and National Economy, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, were also in attendance.

 

The two leaders noted that bilateral cooperation continues to accelerate across various sectors. They reviewed the course of bilateral partnerships and ways to reinforce them. The Crown Prince reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to bolstering ties in various areas in order to increase investment and opportunities.

 

Regional and international topics of common interest were also discussed during the meeting.

 

The Crown Prince welcomed the ongoing cooperation between Bahrain and India in combating COVID-19. He conveyed his appreciation of the role played by the Indian community in Bahrain towards the Kingdom’s economic development.
