6,419 confirmed with COVID-19 in Kerala

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 6,419 people in Kerala on November 18. While 28 deaths were recorded, the test results of 7,066 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative.
 

The district-wise break-up of the number of infected are Ernakulam 887, Kozhikode 811, Thrissur 703, Kollam 693, Alappuzha 637, Malappuram 507, Thiruvananthapuram 468, Palakkad 377, Kottayam 373, Idukki 249, Pathanamthitta 234, Kannur 213, Wayanad 158 and Kasaragod 109.

 

During the last 24 hours, 67,369 samples were tested. The test positivity rate is 9.53. A total of 56,21,634 samples have so far been sent for testing, including routine samples, Airport Surveillance, Pooled Sentinel, CBNAT, Trunat, CLIA and Antigen Assay.

 

The people whose death were confirmed as due to COVID-19 were Nadirsha (44) from Pathamkall, Thiruvananthapuram, Abdul Rahman (87) from Pothencode, Hamsakunju (72) from Madathara, Ramani (62) from Mook, Kollam, Chandrika Amma (69) from Eravipuram, Vinod (48) from Kalavoor, Alappuzha, Thresyamma Joseph (68) from Kainakari, Saramma Chellappan (73) from Mavelikkara, Thankamani (65) from Thiruvalla, Kottayam, Janaki Parameswaran (93) from Kottayam, Shantamma N Pillai (68) from Meenachil, Madhavan (77) from Meenachil. P.K. Jasmine (46) from Aluva, Ernakulam, Kochukunju (54) from Kunnathunadu, Balakrishnan (75) from Pachalam, Gopalan Nair (76) from Kakkanad, Geetha (61) from Chittissery, Thrissur, Mani (70) from Edakazhiyoor, Gopalan Kutty (87) from Kodungallur, Venu (68) from Kunnamkulam, Joseph (90) from Poothol, Sheela (52) from Kotakkad, Kannan (42) from Karuvanur, Vijayan (66) from Vallikunnu, Malappuram, Kunjandia (89) from Thottekkad, Mammunni (69) from Mankada, Joseph (65) of Kakkayam, Kozhikode and Noushad Ali (52) of Kozhikode. This brought the total death toll to 1943. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

 

Ninty-eight of those diagnosed with the disease were from outside the State and  5,576 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 677 is not clear. Ernakulam 658, Kozhikode 721, Thrissur 680, Kollam 686, Alappuzha 624, Malappuram 474, Thiruvananthapuram 346, Palakkad 235, Kottayam 372, Idukki 209, Pathanamthitta 169, Kannur 153, Wayanad 148 and Kasaragod 101 were affected by the disease.

 

Sixty-eight health workers were affected by the disease. Ernakulam 19, Kozhikode, Kannur 11 each, Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta 5 each, Thrissur, Palakkad four each, Idukki 3, Kollam, Wayanad and Kasaragod  two each.

 

The district-wise number of people whose test results were negative was Thiruvananthapuram 579, Kollam 577, Pathanamthitta 226, Alappuzha 368, Kottayam 776, Idukki 185, Ernakulam 720, Thrissur 793, Palakkad 624, Malappuram 661, Kozhikode 920, Wayanad 76, Kannur 376 and Kasaragod 185 were found to be negative today. With this, 69,394 people have been diagnosed with the disease and were still undergoing treatment. 4,68,460 have so far been freed from COVID-19

 

There are currently 3,18,833 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 3,02,330 are under home / institutional quarantine and 16,503 in hospitals. A total of 2,111 people were admitted to hospitals.

 

There are six new hotspots and they are Kongad (Cantonment Zone Sub Ward 14) in Palakkad district, Thirumitikode (5), Alanallur (19), Talayolaparambu (2, 3, 4) in Kottayam district, Manarkad (4) and Venkidang (17) in Thrissur district. Eighteen areas have been excluded from the hotspot. With this, there are a total of 587 hotspots.
