COVID-19 has been confirmed for 3,047 people in Kerala on December 28. The district-wise beak-up of the infected are Malappuram 504, Kozhikode 399, Ernakulam 340, Thrissur 294, Kottayam 241, Palakkad 209, Alappuzha 188, Thiruvananthapuram 188, Kollam 174, Wayanad 160, Idukki 119, Kannur 103, Pathanamthitta 91 and Kasaragod 37.
A total of 32,869 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 9.27. Routine sample, Sentinel sample, CBNAT, TRUNAT, POCT. PCR, RT A total of 77,27,986 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.
Fourteen deaths in the last few days were confirmed as due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 2,990. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.
Thirty-five of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State while 2,707 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 275 is not clear. Malappuram 478, Kozhikode 387, Ernakulam 322, Thrissur 286, Kottayam 227, Palakkad 83, Alappuzha 182, Thiruvananthapuram 112, Kollam 170, Wayanad 150, Idukki 104, Kannur 87, Pathanamthitta 84 and Kasaragod 35 were affected by the disease.
Thirty health workers were affected. Wayanad 7, Thiruvananthapuram, Kannur 5 each, Palakkad 4, Ernakulam 3, Kollam, Kozhikode 2 each, Malappuram and Thrissur 1 each were affected by the disease.
The test results of 4,172 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 262, Kollam 311, Pathanamthitta 203, Alappuzha 203, Kottayam 301, Idukki 49, Ernakulam 536, Thrissur 676, Palakkad 301, Malappuram 629, Kozhikode 417, Wayanad 72, Kannur 176 and Kasaragod 36 had negative results today. With this, 64,028 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 6,76,368 have so far been freed from COVID-19.
There are currently 2,50,174 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 2,37,460 are under home / institutional quarantine and 12,714 in hospitals. A total of 1,116 people were admitted to hospitals.
There a single new hot spot. The new hotspot is Kottayam Municipality (Cantonment Zone Ward 17) in Kottayam district. Two areas were excluded from the hotspot list. With this, there are currently a total of 465 hotspots.
