Tourism ministry reviews hotel sector’s readiness for Dhofar Khareef season

Muscat : The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism held an introductory workshop today to review and enhance preparations for the upcoming Dhofar Khareef 2025 season, with a focus on regulating and improving the performance of hotel and tourism establishments in the governorate.

Held at the multimedia hall of Al Baleed Archaeological Park in Salalah, the session brought together officials from licensed hotel and tourism establishments, aiming to ensure the highest standards of service for the expected influx of visitors during the popular monsoon season.

The Ministry highlighted efforts to improve visitor experience, address service quality, and introduce new laws and regulations that will govern the sector throughout the season. Key topics included the complaints handling mechanism, the Zaer system, and tourism promotion strategies through curated packages and offers. Attendees were also introduced to the Tajawob platform, designed to receive feedback and inquiries related to tourism services.

Khalid bin Abdullah Al Abri, Director General of the Directorate General of Heritage and Tourism in Dhofar, explained that the annual session is part of a broader initiative to deliver exceptional hospitality services and ensure all stakeholders are aligned with the Ministry’s quality benchmarks.
Currently, 80 hotel and tourism establishments are licensed in the governorate, and the number is expected to grow to 120 by the end of 2025, Al Abri confirmed.

He added that the Ministry is working in close coordination with tourism offices, airlines, and car rental companies to create attractive promotional packages, making the most of the rising popularity of the Khareef season. These efforts are aimed at enhancing the appeal of Dhofar as a premier destination for local and international tourists.

The Khareef season, which runs annually from June 21 to September 21, continues to draw increasing numbers of visitors. In 2024, the governorate welcomed over one million visitors, surpassing the 962,000 recorded in 2023, reflecting season’s growing prominence on Oman’s tourism calendar.
