Syria merges civil and military institutions into central governance

Damascus: The agreement, which consists of eight articles, outlines the integration of key infrastructure, including border crossings, airports, and oil and gas fields, into the national framework. Joint committees have been tasked with implementing the deal, with a deadline set before the end of the year.

A statement from the Syrian presidency emphasized that the agreement aims to guarantee the rights of all Syrians, ensuring representation and participation in political life and state institutions. It also reinforced the government’s stance against division, hate speech, and any efforts to create discord within Syrian society.

The move is expected to reshape political and security dynamics in northeastern Syria, bringing previously semi-autonomous institutions under central control.
