Suriya, the Nadipin Nayakan of Tamil cinema is currently awaiting the release of his new movie Soorarai Pottru, directed by Sudha Kongara. After a delay in theatrical release due to the coronavirus pandemic, the makers had decided to release the movie on Amazon Prime on October 30. However, as the makers failed to get NOC from the Indian Air Force, the release has been now scheduled for November 12, 2020.

And now, in a recent interaction with Deccan Chronicle, Suriya has revealed that he was waiting to work with such an amazing filmmaker like Sudha. It should be noted that Sudha Kongara, who had worked as an associate with legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam, has crafted noted movies like Drohi, and Irudhi Suttru.

“Have we ever refused to learn from female teachers in schools and colleges or at work places? From sports to many fields, women are rocking and we have to be proud of them and learn a lot from them,” Suriya told Deccan Chronicle.

According to Suriya, he felt an urge to work with director Bala after watching the movie Sethu. He added that the same urge haunted him again after watching Sudha’s Iriudhi Suttru.

“I have been noticing her ever since she assisted Mani Sir in Aaitha Ezhuthu. She was controlling a team of 200 people on the sets of Soorarai Pottru and extracted the best from them. I have told her to consider me for her next script,” added Suriya.

Soorarai Pottru is loosely based on the life of GR Gopinath, the Air Deccan Founder. The trailer of the movie which was released recently received positive reviews from all corners, and people claimed that Suriya is going to restore his fading stardom through this film.
