Sharjah rolls out two-year vehicle licence

The Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department of Sharjah Police has announced on August 27 it is now issuing a two-year vehicle ownership registration licence (Mulkia) of newly acquired light vehicles for individuals, provided it has valid insurance for the same period. Until now, the renewal had been yearly.

This is in line with the authorities’ plans to provide high-quality police services to citizens and residents.

According to Major General Saif Al-Zari Al Shamsi, commander-in-chief of Sharjah Police, the ambitious plan to upgrade services will save time and effort of resident people. It will also ensure “the provision of all administrative services in accordance with the standards of quality, efficiency and transparency,” he said.

Lt Col Khaled Al-Kai, director of the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department, said that in order to avail the facility, the vehicle owner must present an insurance document with two year validity and pay the required fees for the service. He clarified that the new vehicle registration service is optional.
