Saif Ali Khan stabbing case: Accused arrested while trying to flee

The main suspect in the stabbing attack on Saif Ali Khan, who was attacked six times early Thursday at his residence, has been arrested, according to media reports.

The suspect was taken to Mumbai’s Bandra police station for questioning. He was arrested on Friday, a day after the incident occurred at the actor’s residence in Bandra.
Earlier today, Mumbai Police said that they have taken possession of a portion of the blade extracted from Saif’s back, while efforts to recover the remaining part are still underway

Mumbai Police also said that the accused involved in the attack on Saif Ali Khan was last seen near Bandra railway station and that the search is on to nab him. Police suspect that after the incident, the suspect caught the first local train in the morning and headed towards Vasai Virar. Mumbai Police teams are searching in Vasai, Nalasopara and Virar areas, an official said.
Earlier today, Mumbai Police confirmed that they had recovered a portion of the blade removed from Saif’s back during surgery. Efforts are still ongoing to find the remaining part of the weapon.

Actor’s health update

Meanwhile, the Lilavati Hospital reported that Saif’s family and doctors will decide later today whether he can be moved from the ICU to a normal ward.
Details of the Attack

Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an intruder in his 11th-floor Bandra flat around 2:30 am on Thursday. The intruder reportedly confronted the actor’s maid, and when Saif attempted to intervene, the situation escalated into a violent altercation, leaving the actor with several stab wounds.

Saif underwent surgery
Saif was rushed to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery to remove a knife lodged in his thoracic spinal cord. Doctors worked to repair spinal fluid leakage, and while Saif is “out of danger,” he remains under close medical observation in the ICU.

Maid’s statement

Mumbai Police registered an FIR and took the statement of the maid employed by Saif. According to her complaint, the attacker demanded one crore rupees from the family. She described a violent scuffle during which the intruder used a hexa blade, injuring her hands in the process.
Attempted access to Saif’s son

The maid further stated that the intruder attacked Saif with a wooden object and a hexa blade, leading to a chaotic confrontation where other staff members were roused. The attacker eventually fled the scene.

20 teams for investigation
Mumbai Police have formed 20 teams to track down the suspect. DCP Zone 9, Dixit Gedam, confirmed the attack appeared to be a robbery attempt. Police believe the attacker used a fire escape staircase to gain entry into the actor’s residence.
“We are working to arrest the accused,” Gedam stated. “10 detection teams are working on the case, and an offense has been registered at the Bandra Police Station.”
