RTA Dubai goes paperless

Our Correspondent

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has decided to stop issuing printed tickets for vehicle violations including parking violations in Dubai. It will only be issuing e-tickets via e-mail or text (SMS) messages. All details regarding the offence will be communicated through these channels.

The e-ticketing of vehicles is part of the Dubai Government’s efforts to become the smartest city in the world. It will also contribute to improving the parking fees payment service.

The vehicle owner will get an image of the vehicle and a map of the location of the offence.

Motorists using company or rented cars will be able to add the telephone number and e-mail address of the driver (individual or company) so that the offence notification can be delivered to the vehicle’s user and owner. The owners of vehicles not registered in the UAE are required to register in the Notifications Feature to get ticketing notifications. Payment of parking fines for vehicles registered in other countries is also now available via RTA’s website.

The paperless initiative goes in line with Covid-19 precautionary measures to avoid touching papers. It will also help to save paper and printing-related costs. The smart inspection initiative will help to issue fines remotely via the smart vehicle. It also respects the privacy of the client as no paper ticket will be placed on the front of the vehicle.
