Muscat: The ROP confirmed it is actively supporting the Ministry of Labour’s initiative to waive fines and financial obligations on individuals and employers, provided they fall under specific categories outlined in the Ministry’s official announcement.
The exemption applies to two primary cases:
Status Rectification: Foreign nationals who wish to renew their residency or transfer their employment within Oman are eligible for a full waiver of fines related to expired work visas or residency cards. This is applicable only after their status has been verified and rectified by the Ministry of Labour.
Permanent Departure: Foreigners intending to leave Oman permanently will be exempt from all penalties associated with expired non-work-related visas.
The ROP also noted that it has enabled all necessary technical systems to ensure smooth and timely processing of applications. It called on affected individuals and employers to take advantage of the grace period, which remains open until Thursday, July 31, 2025.
Authorities are encouraging early action to avoid last-minute delays and benefit from the generous window for legal rectification.
