Muscat : The Tax Authority of Oman has entered into a strategic partnership with Omantel to develop and implement a nationwide electronic invoicing (e-invoicing) system, marking a significant step in the Sultanate’s digital transformation of its tax infrastructure.
The agreement was formalized by H.E. Nasser bin Khamis Al Jashmi, Chairman of the Tax Authority, and Eng. Sami bin Ahmed Al Ghassani, Chief Technology Officer at Omantel. This collaboration aims to modernize Oman’s tax framework, enhance operational efficiency, and align with global digitization trends.
Under this initiative, Omantel will leverage its technological expertise to design and implement an innovative digital e-invoicing platform. The system is expected to streamline tax compliance processes, improve the effectiveness of public revenue collection, and support the sustainability strategy of the Sultanate.
The e-invoicing platform will be developed in accordance with international standards, facilitating secure data exchange and simplifying tax compliance procedures, particularly benefiting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). By adopting a structured electronic invoicing system, Oman aims to enhance transparency, reduce administrative burdens, and foster a more efficient tax environment.
This partnership represents a qualitative shift in the governance practices of the tax sector, positioning Oman at the forefront of digital tax administration in the region.
