Muscat : This initiative, set to launch in the coming phase, is part of the Fund’s efforts to improve transparency and accessibility for Omani citizens navigating the pension system.
The announcement was made by SPF CEO Dr. Faisal bin Abdullah Al Farsi during the first session of the ‘Communication Dialogue’ organised by the Ministry of Information’s Government Communication Center.
The CEO of the Social Protection Fund stressed that the social protection system seeks to provide social protection and care and enhance investment in society by developing and implementing policies and programmes targeting social and economic fields. He pointed out that as of February 2025 over 1.5 million people in Oman are benefiting from its various social security programs. These beneficiaries include the elderly, children, people with disabilities, widows, orphans, and social security cases.
Dr. Al Farsi emphasized that the Fund’s social protection system is designed to provide care and foster community investment by developing and implementing policies in both social and economic fields. He also revealed plans for the next phase, which includes launching an electronic calculator that will help individuals understand the mechanism for calculating retirement pensions.
The CEO further noted that the number of active Omani insured persons with the Fund reached 590,000 as of February, covering a wide range of insurance programs. These initiatives reflect the continued growth and evolution of the country’s social safety net, aiming to support its citizens in need and improve their quality of life.
The session, part of a series organized during Ramadan, aims to clarify government policies, raise media awareness, and offer a platform for direct communication between citizens and officials.
