Oman’s Sohar Port inks agreement to expand its logistics services

Muscat : In line with the rapid growth in demand for advanced container services in the region, the Sohar Port has initiated the expansion project, beginning with the first phase, which focuses on the 3-hectare container yard. This will be expanded an additional 2 hectares to enhance operational capacity and raise the level of logistics efficiency of the Port.

Emile Hoogsteden, CEO of Sohar Port, stated that the Port continues to invest in expanding its infrastructure and that of the Sohar Free Zone so as to enable Oman’s logistics sector to link local markets to the world.

He stressed that this partnership will contribute to supporting economic diversification goals and enhance the port’s ability to provide innovative solutions that support sustainable economic growth. He further indicated that Sohar Port has witnessed remarkable growth, with container volumes recording a 21 percent increase in the third quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2023.

Lim Kian Chin, owner of Allied Ondoc Container Services Group, explained that this partnership contributes to providing the company’s container handling solutions to a major logistics hub in the Middle East region. It will deliver high-quality services, improve efficiency of logistics operations in the Sultanate of Oman, and enhance the competitiveness of Sohar Port at regional and international levels.
