Oman’s Shura Council Approves Draft Real Estate Registry Law, Advances Key Legislation

Muscat : Oman’s Shura Council has approved the Draft Real Estate Registry Law, a key legislative step aimed at enhancing the Sultanate’s property sector. The approved draft has now been forwarded to the State Council for final review as part of the legislative process.

The decision was made during the tenth regular session of the tenth term (2023–2027), chaired by His Excellency Khalid bin Hilal Al Maawali, Speaker of the Shura Council, and attended by Council members.

Addressing the session, the Speaker emphasized that reviewing and approving government-referred draft laws is vital to advancing the country’s goals of comprehensive and sustainable development. He noted that the Council’s efforts are aligned with strengthening the legislative foundation that supports Oman’s long-term national vision.

In addition to the Real Estate Registry Law, the Council also approved the Public Services and Utilities Committee’s recommendations on the draft air transport agreement between Oman and the Kyrgyz Republic, which aims to enhance bilateral cooperation in aviation.

Several other significant draft laws were also reviewed during the session, including:

  • The National Geospatial Data and Information Law,
  • The Unified Industrial Regulation Law for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, and
  • The Draft Law on Sports Bodies.

The Council is set to convene again for its eleventh regular session on Tuesday, where it will deliberate on another key proposal: the Draft Law on Civil Society Institutions, also referred by the government.

These legislative discussions reflect Oman’s commitment to modernizing its legal and regulatory framework in alignment with its national development priorities.
