Muscat : The “UNITY-1” mission, initially scheduled for Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from its Duqm-based facility, is now postponed due to unforeseen inclement weather conditions.
While the launch itself is delayed to ensure optimal and safe conditions, Etlaq has confirmed that its accompanying “Etlaq FX” fan zone experience will proceed as scheduled from today, April 28th, through Wednesday, April 30th. This public engagement event offers hospitality tents, a live broadcast area, merchandise stands, outdoor viewing spaces, and various activities catering to all age groups.
The important update from the spaceport reads thus: “Our objective is to always make our region proud by delivering a safe and successful launch that will inspire future generations.
“Due to inclement weather conditions, we will adjust the timing of the upcoming hop launch with ART. This is a normal part of space launches to ensure that launches are executed under the best conditions.
“For Etlaq FX attendees, we are excited to confirm that Fan Experience will continue as scheduled! Join us for an unforgettable experience from 28th April -30th April.

The UNITY-1 mission will feature the debut of Horus 4, a reusable rocket developed by UK-based Advanced Rocket Technologies (ART). Designed to reach an altitude of 75 meters and powered by solid motors, the rocket will aim for a soft, propulsive landing — a key step in testing sustainable launch technology. The launch is part of the Genesis experimental rocket launch programme, which aims to cultivate a space culture in Oman ahead of full-scale commercial operations slated for 2027. Etlaq is planning a total of five missions in 2025.
“Etlaq FX,” the three-day fan zone experience will continue as planned from April 28 to April 30 at the spaceport’s location in Hitam, Wilayat Al Duqm, with activities running from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM on April 28 and 29, and from 7:30 AM to 2:00 PM on April 30.
Organisers have set a 250-person capacity limit to ensure safety, and attendees are encouraged to follow guidance, including wearing sun protection and closed-toe shoes, staying hydrated, and using designated access routes. Drones, flammable items, and pets are strictly prohibited.
