Omani National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science charts path for global cooperation

MUSCAT : The session spotlighted Oman’s efforts in education, culture, and science on the international stage and reinforced its commitment to Oman Vision 2040.

In her opening address, Dr. Al Shaibani underscored the Commission’s pivotal role as a bridge between Oman and global organizations such as UNESCO, ISESCO, and ALECSO.
The meeting delved into strategies to amplify Oman’s representation in global conferences and forums, and explored ways to leverage programs from international bodies to advance national institutions’ goals. Highlights included the registration of five tangible cultural heritage sites, recognition of seven Omani figures and a historic event, and the establishment of three learning cities. Dr. Al Shaibani also emphasized the Commission’s strides in fostering digital learning, developing future skills, and linking curricula to labor market demands.
Dr. Mahmoud Al-Abri, Secretary of the Commission, presented a visual showcase of Oman’s cultural achievements and its developmental contributions within international organizations. He reiterated the importance of collaboration to achieve Oman Vision 2040 and the Sustainable Development Goals 2030.

Meanwhile, Assistant Secretary Badr Al Harthy highlighted progress in achieving SDG 4, which focuses on quality education. His working paper reviewed the Commission’s past initiatives and outlined ongoing media efforts to promote its activities.

The meeting was attended by prominent figures, including Her Highness Sayyida Dr. Mona bint Fahd Al Said, Assistant Vice Chancellor for International Cooperation at Sultan Qaboos University, and Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Vice President of the Commission. Representatives of national institutions and organizations working in education, culture, and science also participated, underscoring the collaborative spirit driving Oman’s national achievements.
