Oman to Make Debut at London Design Biennale 2025 with “Memory Network” Installation

Muscat : The Sultanate of Oman will make its inaugural appearance at the London Design Biennale 2025, taking place on 5 June, with an innovative art installation titled “Memory Network”, created by renowned Omani architect and designer Haitham Al Busaidi.

Presented under the artistic patronage of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth, the installation offers a powerful dialogue between tradition and modernity. It reinterprets traditional Omani pottery through a contemporary lens, blending cultural heritage with modern technological symbolism.

“Memory Network” features transparent forms inspired by Omani pottery, arranged in a structure reminiscent of modern data centers—a nod to today’s digital memory hubs. This striking combination reflects on how societies preserve knowledge and memories across generations.

More than a craft, Omani pottery historically symbolized survival, community, and environmental harmony. By reimagining these values in a digital context, the installation explores how cultural memory can be reframed for the future.

A key highlight of the exhibition is its interactive experience, inviting visitors to share their personal memories and become part of a dynamic digital archive. This participatory element transforms the installation into a living network of human experiences, sparking reflection on a central question:
“What do we consider worth remembering today?”
