Muscat : Oman made a strong impression at the 56th Algiers International Fair, signaling a strategic push into North African markets. The high-level Omani delegation was led by His Excellency Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, and included HE Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with representatives from over 60 public and private sector institutions.
The Omani pavilion showcased a vibrant mix of companies from economic, industrial, and service sectors, as well as small business owners and traditional artisans, reflecting the Sultanate’s diverse economic capabilities.
A key highlight of the event was the Omani-Algerian Businessmen Forum, which brought together stakeholders from both nations to explore collaboration opportunities in logistics, manufacturing, and real estate development. The forum also facilitated bilateral meetings that opened doors for potential joint ventures and product distribution partnerships across North Africa.
Mohammed bin Khalaf Al Hamdani from Oman Exports reported that several Omani firms signed export contracts, while others entered into initial negotiations for joint projects with Algerian partners. He emphasized Algeria’s strategic position as a gateway to the broader North African market and noted the positive reception from Algerian visitors regarding the quality and packaging of Omani products.
Dr. Saif bin Khamis Al Maamari, Head of the OPEX Operations Team, highlighted that the fair successfully unlocked new investment and export opportunities, particularly in logistics, urban planning, and manufacturing. Algerian companies showed keen interest in establishing distribution agencies in areas such as agriculture, food products, plastics, and energy.
From an industrial investment perspective, Dr. Rashid bin Hamad Al Alawi of Madayn underscored Oman’s efforts to attract Algerian investment into its industrial cities, by presenting the wide range of incentives, advanced infrastructure, and value-added services available to foreign investors.
The fair also served as a global platform for Omani SMEs. Ibrahim bin Sulaiman Al Hinai, from the SME Development Authority, noted that the event provided entrepreneurs with a valuable opportunity to expand their international presence and foster growth beyond Oman’s borders.
Ensuring the success of this logistical effort was Al Madina Logistics Services. Its Director, Ibrahim bin Saud Al Balushi, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to offering safe and efficient transport solutions for Omani exhibitors.
