Oman-Russia Visa-Free Travel Agreement Set to Commence Following Final Approvals

Oman : The Sultanate of Oman and the Russian Federation have signed a mutual visa exemption agreement, allowing ordinary passport holders from both countries to travel visa-free for up to 30 days per visit, with a maximum of 90 days within a calendar year. The agreement, signed on April 22, 2025, during Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s state visit to Moscow, will come into effect 30 days after both nations complete their internal legal procedures and notify each other officially.
Until the agreement is fully implemented, Omani citizens planning to travel to Russia are required to obtain a visa in advance. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will announce the official start date through its verified channels once all necessary procedures are finalized.

This visa waiver is expected to enhance bilateral relations by facilitating easier travel for tourism, business, and cultural exchange. In 2024, over 44,000 Russian tourists visited Oman, while 11,000 Omanis traveled to Russia, reflecting a growing interest in mutual tourism.
The agreement does not apply to individuals seeking to enter for permanent residence, study, or employment purposes. Such travelers will still need to obtain the appropriate visas.
For the latest updates on the visa exemption’s implementation, travelers are advised to monitor official announcements from the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
