Oman Endures Scorching Heat as Temperatures Soar to 48°C in Nizwa and Adam

Muscat ∙ Oman is experiencing extreme summer heat, with temperatures reaching a scorching 48°C in Nizwa and Adam, according to official data. Close behind were Al Qabil and Mahout, where temperatures touched 47°C, triggering health and safety alerts across the country.

Authorities have urged the public to avoid direct sunlight, especially during peak afternoon hours, to prevent the risk of sunstroke and heat exhaustion.

In an official advisory, Oman Meteorology warned that the intense heat poses serious risks to workers engaged in outdoor and field-based jobs. The department recommended that employers adjust working hours to include adequate rest breaks during the hottest periods of the day.

“It is advisable to train both workers and supervisors on how to handle high-temperature conditions,” the advisory stated, emphasizing the importance of hydration, heat safety awareness, and preventive measures to safeguard health.

The advisory comes as part of ongoing efforts to raise public awareness and minimize the health impact of rising summer temperatures across the Sultanate.
