Oman and Japan hold political consultations to strengthen bilateral ties

TOKYO : The Omani delegation was led by His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, while the Japanese side was headed by His Excellency Ando Toshihide, Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs and Director-General of the Middle East and Africa Department.

Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and exploring avenues for further collaboration in fields including economic development, investment, education, and energy. Both sides also exchanged views on regional and international developments and other matters of mutual interest.

On the sidelines of the visit, His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy delivered a symposium on Omani-Japanese relations and Middle East developments at the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Tokyo. The event drew the participation of several Japanese politicians, academics, and business leaders, reflecting the growing interest in enhancing bilateral engagement.

The meetings were attended by His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Saeed Al Busaidi, Ambassador of Oman to Japan; Ambassador Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Hosni, Head of the Asia and Pacific Department; and a number of senior officials from both countries.
