Oman Advocates Unified Urban Vision at GCC Municipal Affairs Summit

Kuwait: Oman reaffirmed its commitment to a unified urban development strategy in the region at the GCC Ministers of Municipal Affairs meeting held in Kuwait. Representing the Sultanate was H.E. Sayyid Saud bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Governor of Muscat, who joined ministerial counterparts from across the Gulf to explore collaborative approaches to municipal governance and urban planning.

The high-level discussions focused on implementing previous GCC resolutions related to urban development, including the strategic rollout of the Gulf Building Code, a unified framework designed to standardize construction practices across member nations.

Ministers also reviewed the 2024–2030 Joint Municipal Action Plan, which prioritizes modernizing municipal regulations, enhancing regulatory oversight, and fostering partnerships with global institutions that specialize in urban governance.

The meeting additionally outlined preparations for key upcoming regional events, including Gulf Municipal Week, the Municipal Action Conference, and the GCC Municipal Action Award—each serving as a platform to spotlight innovation, excellence, and forward-thinking in municipal services across the Gulf.
