No Relief from the Heat; Temperatures Continue to Soar in Oman

Muscat: The heatwave continues to intensify across Oman, with soaring temperatures recorded across several regions. The highest temperature in the last 24 hours was noted in Suhar, reaching a scorching 47.1°C, according to data released by the Civil Aviation Authority’s Meteorology Department.

Shinas followed closely with 46°C, while Jalan Bani Bu Hassan recorded 45.7°C. Other high temperatures included 44.7°C in Izki, 44.4°C in Al Awabi, 43.9°C in Bausher, 43.8°C in Nizwa and Sur, and 43.7°C in Ibri and Samail. Even the Muscat International Airport saw temperatures climb to 43.1°C.

Meteorological data reveals that both coastal and inland areas are experiencing an intense and consistent rise in temperatures, with no signs of immediate relief.

Simultaneously, strong northwesterly winds are sweeping across several governorates, especially in northern and interior regions. This has led to rising dust levels in desert and open areas, occasionally reducing visibility.

The authorities have also reported high waves along the Musandam coast and across parts of the Oman Sea. Drivers traveling through dusty and windy regions are urged to exercise caution, and residents are advised to stay updated with official weather alerts and advisories.
