November 30 is the UAE’s Commemoration Day, and Rulers of the various emirates that comprise the nation paid rich tributes to its soldiers who had laid their lives for the nation. A slew of measures were also announced to improve lives of citizens as the country gears up to celebrate its National Day on December 2. A five-day weekend begins on December 1, and the nation is already in a celebratory mood.
The President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan said the nation’s martyrs are like “beacons that illuminate the way, as we create the next 50 years” and renewed his pledge that their children and families will remain a priority and will receive the highest care support from the state.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, also paid rich tributes to the nation’s martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s glory.
Sheikh Mohammed approved the establishment of a council for cybersecurity in the country. He also approved changes in Emirati Passports and national IDs during a Cabinet meeting held on November 29 at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi. The newly designed passport and ID will carry new digital codes that contain the highest international security standards.
Sheikh Mohammed also approved the formation of the national media team, tasked with sharing their vision to develop the UAE media. “The increasingly strategic importance of the UAE regionally and internationally requires modern tools and different ways of thinking,” Sheikh Mohammed said.
In Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has ordered the disbursement of housing loans worth over AED7 billion to 6,100 citizens in the emirate, exempting retired low-income citizens from repaying the loans.
This year, approvals were issued for more than 5,000 housing loans, reflecting the leader’s desire to promote the Abu Dhabi government accelerator programme, Ghadan 21, and double housing loans for UAE citizens.
