The body of Captain Deepak Sathe, 58, who was the pilot of the ill-fated Air India Express plane that crashed in Kerala, was taken on his last journey by his colleagues in Air India.
Sathe, 58, died along with 17 others after the plane crashed at Kerala’s Karipur airport on August 7.
Sathe, who flew the crashed Air India Express AXB1344, B737, was a very experienced pilot. This was Sethi’s first accident in 30 years of flying ending in his death.
Sathe, who flew in the Indian Air Force for 12 years, was a man who had the expertise to land a plane at a very difficult airport such as Karipur. Such talented people are assigned to land planes at table top airports.
Sathe, who won the Best Pilot award while serving in the Air Force, worked for Bangalore Hindustan Aeronautical Limited.
