Kuwait City: Kuwait has joined the newly established Global Water Organization (GWO) as a founding member. The organization, spearheaded by Saudi Arabia, aims to address global water challenges through collaborative solutions.
During a recent ceremony held in Riyadh, Kuwait’s Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaizeem, signed the GWO charter, officially marking Kuwait’s entry into the alliance. Representatives from several other countries, including Pakistan, Senegal, Mauritania, Qatar, Spain, and Greece, also signed the charter as founding members.
The event was inaugurated by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, who emphasized Saudi Arabia’s commitment to global water issues. He called for increased cooperation among UN member states and the private sector to promote sustainable water management.
The GWO was established to enhance collective global efforts in combating water scarcity, climate change, and related environmental challenges. It seeks to strengthen the role of nations and organizations in addressing water crises and to transform traditional water management strategies. The organization aims to provide leadership in fostering innovative, sustainable, and cooperative approaches to water resource management worldwide.
