COVID-19 has been confirmed for 26,685 people in Kerala today. The district-wise break-up of the number of cases are Kozhikode 3767, Ernakulam 3320, Malappuram 2745, Thrissur 2584, Thiruvananthapuram 2383, Kottayam 2062, Kannur 1755, Alappuzha 1750, Palakkad 1512, Kollam 1255, Pathanamthitta 933, Kasaragod 908, Wayanad 873 and Idukki 838.
As part of the second phase of the test, 2,90,262 samples were collected from different parts of the state on Wednesday and Thursday. Of these, 1,31,155 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 20.35. A total of 1,49,89,949 samples have been tested so far, including LAMP and antigen testing.
No one from the UK, South Africa or Brazil has confirmed COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. COVID-19 has so far been confirmed by 116 people from the UK (108), South Africa (7) and Brazil (1). Of these, 112 tested negative. A total of 11 people were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.
It has been confirmed today that 25 deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 5,080.
Today, 259 of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the state and 24,596 people were infected through contact. Contact sources for 1,757 are not clear. Kozhikode 3,706, Ernakulam 3,265, Malappuram 2,634, Thrissur 2,550, Thiruvananthapuram 1,957, Kottayam 1,835, Kannur 1,548, Alappuzha 1,747, Palakkad 690, Kollam 1,247, Pathanamthitta 857, Kasaragod 880, Wayanad 860 and Idukki 820 were affected by the disease.
The disease affected 73 health workers. Health workers in Kannur 24, Thrissur 15, Palakkad 12, Pathanamthitta 7, Wayanad 5, Kasaragod 4, Ernakulam 3, Kollam 2 and Kottayam 1 were affected.
The test results of 7,067 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 794, Kollam 406, Pathanamthitta 278, Alappuzha 583, Kottayam 694, Idukki 96, Ernakulam 821, Thrissur 684, Palakkad 372, Malappuram 540, Kozhikode 858, Wayanad 127, Kannur 595 and Kasaragod 219 were found to be negative today. With this, 1,98,576 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 11,73,202 people have so far been freed from Kovid.
There are currently 4,31,587 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 4,13,172 are under home / institutional quarantine and 18,415 are under hospital surveillance. A total of 3476 people were admitted to hospitals today.
Today there are 15 new hotspots and no area is excluded from the hotspot list. There are currently a total of 538 hotspots.
